Walter Crawford Howey (born Fort Dodge, Iowa, January 16, 1882; died Boston, March 21, 1954, age 72) was a Hearst newspaper editor and the model for Walter Burns, the scheming, ruthless managing editor in Hecht and MacArthur's play The Front Page.〔Jan Onofrio.
